Meal Planning Mondays – Meal Prep Plan 7 : Week of 11/1/16 to 17/1/16 !

I have been so far lagging behind with my meal planning resolution this year. I took a mega break of sorts, Diwali took a big chunk out the healthy eating goals of November, then I went home ( I am hopeless at eating well when temptations galore), then two big fat Indian weddings ( oh, nightmare if you are trying to maintain / lose weight ) and the I got swayed while pampering my sweet sister who was visiting me (to be honest, I pampered myself too under that pretext).

Well well, no point crying over the spilt milk. Hope I will be as good as I am before I took a break for a while atleast. How’s the New Year treating you?

The Meal Plan with the shopping list for the same is as under:

Plan no. 14 after a loooong break. Back to routine after one Diwali hiatus, two big fat Indian weddings, one long trip home and a rules-free week when the sister was here. Its 10 long weeks without regimented meal planning. Hope I can be as good this year as I have been for the 4 months before I took this break. Week 14 of #beingarmedwithaplan . P.S. There is no prep for the sprouts, ( it slipped out of my mind to add in there) in the plan, because I usually make a big batch of sprouts over the weekend and refrigerate. If nothing, I usually atleast have the process of soaking started sometime during the weekend. P.P.S There is far less cutting chopping involved this week because when I went home last time, I got myself a big batch of green beans and veggies all cleaned, trimmed and chopped, thanks to my awesome mom, mom in law and grand mom. So, I am having fun while the stock in the freezer lasts! 😎😎 #mealplanning #weeklymealplanning #newyearresolution #groceryshoppingsimplified #gettingorganized #mealprepping #igers

Meal Planning Mondays – Meal Prep Plan 5 : Week of 1/11 to 7/11 !

A quick quick post, ( I am typing this from under my blanket, all bleary eyed) just so that I don’t miss my Monday Series!

I am bracing up for a super busy week and hence I have a low key week and similar meal plan in place! And as I am lazy, I will just put up the picture ! It includes all my combat plans and some notes below it. Hope it helps! 🙂

image
* Using store bought Idli batter and using it up in the first half of the week.
* Stocking the fridge with Boiled Potatoes and using it up in the first half of the week.
* Like other perishables, use up bread first.
* Using the Peas Potatoes curry on one day with Fulkas/Rotis and the next day for Masala Dosa. * Make Sambar for two meals in one go
* On days when I am making simple stuff, like Wednesday and Friday, make dough for the rotis for the upcoming days.
* Make one pot curries like Moong and Rajma where you can temper in the pressure cooker itself, add just enough water and cook. Meanwhile, as the curry is getting ready, you can me the rotis in parallel. Pressure cooker is my best friend.
That's it. If the schedule eases up mid week, may be I will get some shopping done and experiment a bit!

Meal Planning Mondays – Meal Prep Plan 5 : Week of 26/10 to 31/10 !

Yes, I am back with a meal plan for the week and I am super excited! I have so much to catch up on my kitchen experiments. Well, there are some surprises and some ideas that I had planned for the last week reused. I am trying out Ragi / Finger Millet and I am super stoked. It is really healthy and at the same time, I do not know how my recipes will turn out. But till then, fingers crossed!

Meal Planning Mondays – Meal Prep Plan 4 : Week of 19/10 to 24/10

I know, I know, it is Tuesday and not Monday! But, as a matter of habit, I am going through with this post! I wasn’t feeling well a bit on a last couple of days, took a break and missed out a bit on cooking. However, I have nothing to despair because this is exactly why I meal plan in the first place. Having a plan in place helps me get back on schedule so easily. I can pick out the meal ideas which I have missed, select the ones which need little or no preplan for the first day of being back to my schedule, and carry on with the rest of the days as if nothing happened. So, despite it being a Monday, I am going to post my meal plan for the week and update a few recipes from the past week. You can see my other meal planning posts here.

Meal Planning Mondays ~ Meal Prep Plan 3 : Week of 12/10 to 7/10 !

I missed a post in this series last Monday as I had just returned from a trip. But That doesn’t mean I did not cook or meal plan. I did plan and you can see the plan here if you want. It was just that I did not have the time to rant about it! 😀

So, today I am back with this week’s meal plan. As usual, I have a good mix of comforting meals and experimental meals. I missed our salad night and soup night last week due to some other engagements, but we are back on track now.

Meal Planning Mondays ~ Meal Prep Plan 2: Week of 21/9 to 26/9

Here’s my second post for the series ‘Meal Planning Mondays’! It is getting easier to make this a habit, but I will not be over-confident and jinx this! 😀 However, I am disappointed with the fact that I haven’t really been able to update the new recipes that I tried here, on the blog! Let’s see if I can change that.

The Meal Plan with the shopping list for the same is as under:

Like I mentioned in the last post, since Indian pantries are usually well stocked, my shopping lists will be brief. However, I try to keep a small checklist handy, which I check the previous day, to make sure that I have the essential stuff at hand. Hope you find this helpful in any small way. Happy Planning to you!

Meal Planning Mondays ~ Meal Plan 1: Week 14/9 to 19/9 ~ New weekly series!

Meal Planning has been one of my new year resolutions for the year 2015. So after doing the meal planning in an excel sheet for about 7 to 8 months, I finally have a feeling that I am getting into this routine. So, from now on, I will be sharing the weekly meal plan. It will be predominantly Indian food because that’s what we have grown up eating.  I will put in links to the recipes as and when I get them up in the blog. So, it’s not all into the place right now, but it will be soon.

The Meal Plan with the shopping list for the same is as under:
Note: Since Indian pantries are usually well stocked, my shopping lists will be brief. The idea is all the basic spices, flours and legumes, essentially, anything that can be easily stored is usually bought in bulk. The things that we buy on the weekly basis are fresh vegetables and perishables like dairy produce, loaves of bread and very rarely used ingredients. However, as a checklist, I have habit of checking for the vegetables/legumes to be used the next day. This is so that I can buy them the previous night, incase I have forgotten to buy them on my weekly grocery errand.
